The truth shall set you free

One of the primary ways people avoid dealing with pain is to “stuff it”. So often when people hurt us, we stuff it down deep in our hearts instead of dealing with it. When we live stuffing issues down for too long, we can build up serious health issues and even build up ugly anger.

God used truth to set us free, John 8:32…”The Truth will set you free”. It is not the truth about someone else that sets us free, it is truth about ourselves that we need to face. Facing truth about ourselves is very difficult and can be emotionally painful. What ever the truth is go ahead and admit it.

Facing truth about ourselves is the beginning of healing. It’s important to admit you may have a bad attitude. Admit your insecurities and fears about yourself. If you have a jealous streak, admit it.

There is a quality of strength, a certain victory, that accompanies a person when they face truth. Just being a person that is just making it through life or hiding behind images that you think others should see you as, lacks truth and true happiness. Freedom means I am able to make choices about how I will behave and not be a prisoner to negative emotions.

God is on your side, and that makes you more than a conqueror.

God Believes in You

Have you ever faced a situation and said, “There is no way this can ever be”? Maybe these thought lay heavy on your mind:

  • – There is no way I can handle the pressure at work.
  • – There is no way I can pay the bills at the end of the month.
  • – There is no way for me to open my own business.
  • – There is no way I can lose the weight I need to lose.
  •

    I want you to know there is always a way. Make a promise to yourself that you try not to say “There is no way”.
    The truth is, even when there seems to be no way, with God there is always a way. All the creativity in the world resides in God, and when God lives in your heart, you have access to that creativity. Even if you don’t believe in God, He believes in YOU.

    Instead of dwelling on our difficulties, we need to focus on the creative energy in us to over come, “There’s no way…”. I have encountered hundreds of people over my 33 years of ministry and I’ve observed that most people consider three aspects of their lives most challenging and worth fighting for: health, finances, and family. I have dealt with each of these areas on a personal level and have received great improvements. If you are willing to persevere through the struggles you face in your health, your family and your finances, I know you will emerge victorious. Don’t stop short of knowing who you are, valuing who you are and encouraging yourself to be and do all you want to do and be.

    Remember, God is not surprised by your, “There’s no way…”. God know‘s them before you do. Set your thoughts on accepting “The Truth Will Set You Free”, and you will accomplish all that you set out to do with the loving support of God.

    THERE IS A TIME FOR EVERYTHING UNDER HEAVEN

    It is critical as we move from staying at home and self-distancing because of Covid-19, to living well again. It is important to stay focused and heal. You’ve undoubtedly heard the expression “time heals all wounds.” Time only extends the pain if the problem isn’t dealt with. People often tell me that they are carrying hurts for thirty years and longer. Wounds that are left untended fester and spread infection. Truth is we can infect others with our wounds that are unforgiven.

    We are told there may be set backs with the Coronavirus, will return, if we don’t do the right things with help through medical experts. Truth, if we don’t do the right thing to heal personal wounds, we will spread the infection of anger, disgust and even hate. Healing requires HONESTY and TRUTH. Realizing you don’t want to live any longer with pain and hurt that controls your energy even making you feel powerless at times is the FIRST STEP.

    “The only thing that stands between a person and what they want in life, free from hurt, is the will to try to forgive and the faith to believe it possible”. Rich DeVos

    When we wake up in the morning, we have many choices to make throughout the day. We can choose to take a shower, to eat breakfast, what to wear, go for a jog, go to work, even carry the deep hurt from other people. The most important choice you can make is your ATTITUDE.

    William James, a modern psychologist, said, “the greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter their life by altering our attitude.” Abraham Lincoln said, “People are happy as they make up their mind to be”. We can live ungrateful or to be grateful.

    I choose to live with Gratitude because of all the blessings God has given to life.

    We’ve been listening or reading information from an official Task Force on Covid-19, doing testing. We may think there isn’t a task force to help heal our personal wounds. TRUTH is we do have a great task force where millions have tested and found healing through the Serenity Prayer. We don’t have to wait for the testing, this prayer works.

    You may have heard or read the first four line of the “Prayer for Serenity”, the following is the complete prayer. I encourage each of us to pray as often as we can and become a beneficiary of healing.

    Serenity Prayer

    God, grant me the serenity
    To accept the things I cannot change,
    The courage to change the things I can,
    And the wisdom to know the difference.
    Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time;
    Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;
    Taking, as Jesus did, This sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it;
    Trusting that You will make all things right, if I surrender to Your will;
    So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
    And supremely happy with You forever in the next.
    Amen

    We have learned that Covid-19 takes time to heal and the power of people to go to the front lines to help. Some people it takes days, weeks and months. As each of us have a different timing to heal physically, the same is true with deep emotional wounds. However, we can and will heal.

    Forgiving others requires courage to have the attitude of good judgment and willingness, it also requires a good sense of time. Praying requires a working partnership with God and timing to heal. “There is a right time for everything. There is a time to let things happen, there is a right time and a wrong time to offer forgiveness or to make amends.”

    The great risk for not healing personal wounds is doing nothing. The front line for healing personal wounds means going to the front line with God, His only Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

    God will meet all our needs,

    Darlene

    The Aha Moment

    The Aha Moment

    It’s wonderful when we can experience a “Aha” moment. I’ve learned to trust by faith that those are moments when God is getting our attention.

    These are junctures in the story of our life where something changes and then things cannot remain the same.

    I recall the first time I climbed a 14,000 ft mountain in Colorado, Longs Peak. Standing at the top, which is flat and looks like a football field, gave me a “Aha” moment. My first “Aha” was that I made the summit climbing through the boulder field and over the key whole, that takes you too the backside where there are snow fields and glaziers then circling up to climb the ledge and finally reaching the summit, “Aha”. What an amazing challenge with many trials through the climb.

    As you walk around the summit you can see in all directions. Without question the view from up there, for me is “Aha”. No matter what science has proven about creation,what I saw, was the finest masterpiece from God and His paint brush.

    Many times I’ failed to trust God’s love supporting moments, equipping me to see the bigger picture through problems or trials.When you feel lost and uncertain about what the future hold, pause for a moment and look back at your life. Reflect on the many instances where you were guided and blessed. My reason for singing “He Will Carry You” from my album In The Moment, is because I reflected on those “mountains so high and oceans so wide, where I trusted God was there through it all.

    Recently I had a “Aha” moment, for I’ve come to realize why God created me and you, because without us God is not complete.
